Franz Josef Nick, born in Freigericht on 10 February 1959, became a member of the company’s Supervisory Board on 20 November 2017 and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board on 1 January 2019. Having obtained a law degree and having completed a legal clerkship in Würzburg, he joined Frankfurt-based Citibank AG as a fully qualified lawyer in 1988 and went on to serve in a variety of managerial roles. In 2001 Mr Nick transferred to the group’s retail arm, Citibank Privatkunden AG, where he was appointed to the managing board in 2002. From 2008 to 2015 Mr Nick served as chairman of the managing board of TARGOBANK AG KGaA (previously: Citibank Privatkunden AG). Moreover, Mr Nick sat on the supervisory boards of SCHUFA Holding AG (2002 – 2015) and Targo Versicherung AG (2011 – 2015). Since 2016, Mr Nick has run his own law office and acted as managing shareholder of Maleki International Services For Finance GmbH. His work focuses on advising foreign companies doing or contemplating business in Germany.
Dr. Ludolf von Wartenberg, born on 22 September 1941 in Fürstenwalde/Spree, has been a member of the Supervisory Board of the company since 20 May 2010. After graduating in national economy and economic history studies in Hannover, Belfast and Göttingen, Dr. von Wartenberg finished his education as a business consultant at the Handwerkskammer Hannover and has been a cooperation partner at Norddeutsches Handwerk. From 1970 to 1976 Dr. von Wartenberg was a member of the Niedersächsischer Landtag and from 1972 to 1976 he was a member of the Management of the Zentralverband der Deutschen Haus-, Wohnungs- und Grundeigentümer e.V. in Düsseldorf. From 1976 to 1990, Dr. von Wartenberg was a member of the Deutscher Bundestag and until 1987 a full member in the finance committee and deputy member in the economic committee (Chairman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary party in the finance committee; General Rapporteur for the Economic Committee in the North Atlantic Assembly). From 1985 to 1987, Dr. von Wartenberg worked as director at Hannover Rückversicherung AG in Hannover and afterwards until 1989 as parliamentary secretary for the Federal minister for economy. From 1990 to 2006, Dr. von Wartenberg has been the managing director of the Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie (BDI) and parallel until 2008 a member of the committee at Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie (BDI). Dr. von Wartenberg currently holds the position as chairman of the administrative board of Industrie-Pensions-Verein e.V., Berlin, and he is chairman of the board of trustees of Hanns Martin Schleyer-Stiftung and of the Institut Finanzen und Steuern e.V., Berlin.
Prof. Dr. Wulf-W. Lapins, born on 7 May 1953 in Munich, has been a member of the company’s Supervisory Board since 24 August 2018. After his studies in social pedagogy with a focus on social psychology and political adult education, he completed a second degree in political science, history and educational psychology. After receiving his doctorate in 1983, Prof. Dr. Lapins acted as an interim professor for international security policy at the University of the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) in Munich. Since 1986, he has been working for a globally active German political foundation, initially in foreign policy research and, since 1992, as head of various national offices of the foundation in the Baltic States, Eastern Europe, Southern Caucasus, Central Asia and the Western Balkans. He has been responsible for the regional offices’ finances and political project management and has published numerous scientific publications on selected foreign policy issues in these five geographical regions. Prof. Dr. Lapins is currently heading the foundation’s office in Albania.
